Get to know Pearson’s Elmhurst Dairy!

You had us at ice cream!

Pearson’s Elmhurst Dairy in Millbury, MA is rich with history, beautiful land, 150 Holstein and milking shorthorn dairy cows, a processing and bottling operation, honey, maple syrup, vegetables and oh yeah…homemade ice cream!

Kiley and I share a love for dairy farms and ice cream so we were sold on a visit to Pearson’s Elmhurst Dairy to prepare the family for the upcoming FOX25 Zip Trip to Millbury, MA (tune in on Friday, 7/15).  Of course I never pass on the opportunity to bring my girls (and anyone else) to let them experience and appreciate how milk gets from farm to fridge.

Tuesday and Thursday morning’s is when processing and bottling happen.  If you have never experienced milk being bottled, you should put it on your must-do list.  The Pearson’s took a break from their work to introduce themselves and give us a little history and talk about the ice cream they make right there in the processing room.  #IceCreamMonth

Fran gave us a birds-eye view of the milk in the tank. I love this photo of Kiley, she is looking into the holding tank with such awe!

We toured the farm, were introduced to the ladies in the barn and learned that each has a name.  I am familiar with the Holstein breed of dairy cows, but have never seen a milking shorthorn. They are beautiful!

If you ever go on a farm tour you will quickly learn that a fan favorite is to visit the calves.  The young gals who joined Kiley and I had a really fun experience and each were able to bottle feed a calf, something that I have never done!

Now…let’s go back to talking about the homemade ice cream.  This may be the creamiest, decadent treat we have had in a long time.  Black raspberry and cookie dough were the flavors we dove into.  Kiley and I left with freshly bottled milk, maple syrup and ice cream.

Kiley said she’s definitely going back for more!

My family keeps asking when we are going back or when we can take a drive to get more milk (and ice cream!)

Lucky for all our Must Be The Milk fans reading this, you can meet the Pearson’s and try their amazing ice cream on Friday, 7/15 at the FOX25 Zip Trip in Millbury, MA

Zip Trip Location: Asa Waters Mansion. 123 Elm St, Millbury, Massachusetts 01527.
